The available research on ACETAMIDOCAPROIC ACID is entirely focused on its pharmacokinetics (how the body absorbs, distributes, and eliminates it) when given as part of an oral antiulcer drug called zinc acexamate. Here’s what we know: AACA is created when zinc acexamate breaks down in your body. When studied in rats, AACA was primarily eliminated through urine via active renal tubular secretion—a process where your kidneys actively pump it out rather than passively filtering it (Xenobiotica, 2012 and 2010). The compound has a basic secondary amine group, which affects how it interacts with your body’s chemistry (Xenobiotica, 2012). When zinc acexamate is taken orally, only about 47% of the AACA dose reaches systemic circulation; the rest is absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract during first-pass metabolism (Xenobiotica, 2010).

AACA binds weakly to rat blood cells (partition ratio around 0.49) and has low affinity for tissues overall (Xenobiotica, 2010). In disease states like acute renal failure or acute gastric ulcers, AACA clearance from the body is significantly altered due to changes in kidney function and liver metabolism (J Pharm Pharmacol, 2012; Xenobiotica, 2012).
