Acacia Farnesiana Gum is derived from a species of acacia plant, which is a genus with multiple members used in cosmetic formulations. Related acacia ingredients, particularly Acacia Senegal Gum (also called gum arabic), have been extensively studied and found to be safe for cosmetic use. Gum arabic is composed of various sugars and glucuronic acid residues arranged in long chains with branched sugar structures, and toxicity testing showed little to no acute or short-term harm, with no evidence of cancer risk or reproductive damage (Int J Toxicol, 2005). However, when it comes specifically to Acacia Farnesiana Gum, the research situation is different.
