In a 2021 study published in *Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine*, researchers fed obese mice a high-fat diet either with or without portulaca powder for 12 weeks. The results showed several measurable changes: #1: mice receiving the higher dose of portulaca powder (10% of their diet) gained 34% less weight compared to mice on a high-fat diet alone. #2: Specific fat deposits around the kidneys and reproductive organs were substantially reduced—6.3-fold lower and 1.5-fold lower, respectively—in the treated group.
