The ingredient’s chemical structure consists of various sugars and glucuronic acid residues—think of these as building blocks—linked together in long chains with branched smaller sugar units attached. Safety research on Acacia Senegal Gum shows several reassuring findings: #1: Toxicity studies indicate little to no acute (sudden), short-term, or subchronic (medium-length) toxicity (Int J Toxicol, 2005). #2: The ingredient tested negative in genotoxicity assays, meaning it doesn’t appear to damage genetic material (Int J Toxicol, 2005).
